Course Reflective Narrative
The Upper Division Course SPAN 301: Composition and Oral Practice was taken by me on the Fall of 2012 as part of the core courses for MLO 1 (Language Proficiency). It was a course instructed by Dr. Casado-Fuente, where we focused on developing our communicative skills through mainly numerous readings and writing activities. The course connected directly to the main points of MLO 1 by enhancing our abilities of speaking, listening, reading and writing in the target language. The class was fully thought in Spanish and the expectations from our professor where set high. Our work, particularly the writing assignments, was constantly revised and corrected until it reached grammatical perfection. In addition, we were expected to interact within the classroom setting by taking part in discussion and formulating debates on specific subject topics. There were also a couple of presentation (grouped and individual), that assed our oral usage of the language. From this course, I was able to further develop my grammatical skills in the Spanish language and to expand my vocabulary, both for oral and written usage. After having taking this class, I wish to continue working on perfecting my writing skills and specifically the grammatical aspect of my Spanish. I learned how important it is to write according to all the grammatical rules of the language in order to create a proper understanding of what you wish to communicate. I intend to further explore my learning experiences gained from this particular course, by reading, writing, and revising constantly. I also plan to rally focus on practice on using the language in order to expand on my vocabulary expressions and use eloquent terminology.
